All Saints Day - Needs to be Finished

All Souls Day All Soul's Day (sometimes called the "Day of the Dead") is always November 2 (November 3rd if the 2nd falls on a Sunday).  All Soul's Day is a Roman Catholic day of remembrance for friends and loved ones who have passed away. This comes from the ancient Pagan Festival of the Dead, which celebrated the Pagan belief that the souls of the dead would return for a meal with the family. Candles in the window would guide the souls back home, and another place was set at the table. Children would come through the village, asking for food to be offered symbolically to the dead, then donated to feed the hungry.  The day purposely follows All Saint's Day in order to shift the focus from those in heaven to those in purgatory. It is celebrated with masses and festivities in honor of the dead. While the Feast of All Saints is a day to remember the glories of Heaven and those there, the Feast of All Souls reminds us of our obligations to live holy lives and that there will be purification of the souls of those destined for Heaven.  http://all-souls-day.123holiday.net/

Obama in Economic Action, Hold Onto Your BUTTS!

Mr. Obama’s opposition to allowing the high-end tax cuts to remain in place for even another year or two would be the signal many Congressional Democrats have been awaiting as they prepare for a showdown with Republicans on the issue and ends speculation that the White House might be open to an extension. Democrats say only the president can rally wavering lawmakers who, amid the party’s weakened poll numbers, feel increasingly vulnerable to Republican attacks if they let the top rates lapse at the end of this year as scheduled.

This plan won't help anyone! No jobs will be created... If Obama thinks taxing "BIG OIL" is the answer, WRONG. All that will do is cause more costs to the average American who can't afford it, especially now.

Broken Promises Or Broken Moral Code?

 Many things happen in a persons daily life. These things have a heavy hand in molding the person you become. From work to family, faith and the world we exist in. 

Michael Hyatt wrote a blog post titled "Keeping Your Word" that spoke volumes to me recently. My wife and I have found ourselves once again battling an all to familiar foe. It's the typical Good vs. Evil, were we are faced with this foe attempting to break a binding word that was given, because it has become inconvienient and expensive. This is what Michael had to say on his blog,

"Keeping your word is the essence of integrity. As Stephen Covey points out, “honesty is making your words conform to reality. Integrity is making reality conform to your words.” It is essential to leadership. Without it, you cannot be an effective leader.

Why?

1. Integrity is required for trust. If people can’t trust your word, they won’t trust you.

2. Trust is necessary for influence. People choose those they let influence them, and this is based largely on trust.

3. Influence is essential for impact. You can’t make the impact you want to make unless you can influence others and shift their behavior.

Yes, keeping your word is sometimes difficult, expensive, and inconvenient. But the cost of not doing so is even more expensive. It will ultimately cost you your leadership.

I couldn't agree more, or have said it any better. There once was a time if it came out of your mouth, to another party then you better have meant it, because you were going to be doing it. Those were better times, no doubt about it! 

Now-a-days we have too much ambiguity with no recourse. We need individuals and communities to stand up and make people do what they say, to be accountable. Or to the contrary, if you say you will do "X" then make sure that's your intent. I know when I was growing up, this was a lesson i was taught through my parents words, but more the way they lived their lives.

After The Catastrophe

After the catastrophe of the Nashville flood there was no time to wait around or worry about if the Government or MSM was going to come to aid our City, Nashvillians took it upon themselves. Neighbors were saving neighbors, that's Tennessee! Just Monday at lunch I was reading my RSS feed and read a post from last week by Pete Wilson, THE 1,000 YEAR FLOOD? Pete is such an inspirational Christian leader. 

He said this flood, "means we have a once in a thousand year opportunity to be hope to a hurting city."

Holiday World is Selling Off Employee's...

Holiday World and Splashin' Safari has come up with a unique way to raise funds for the victims of the recent Nashville, TN, area floods. Fifteen members of park management, including Park President Will Koch have offered themselves to be put up for auction, with all proceeds to go to flood victims.  All proceeds from the 15 auctions, which will run through noon on Monday, May 17, will be donated to the American Red Cross for Nashville-area flood relief efforts.

Winners of each individual staff member's auction will automatically receive at least 4 admission tickets, $20 in Holibucks to spend in the park, and two hours of the staff member's time. Each auction has other perks that vary depending on who you bid on, such as:

• An additional four one-day park tickets, provided by the staff member;
• Behind-the-scenes tours of park facilities and photo walk backs of the roller coasters;
• Parking for the day in the staff member’s personal parking space, by the front gate;
• Musical audition tips, with live feedback from New York and Nashville producers, via Skype;
• Lessons in how to make perfect cotton candy;
• Lunch for four, followed by Very Big Cupcakes with a member of the HoliDazzles staff;
• Pre-opening tour of roller coaster maintenance activities; 
• Front-of-the-line access to rides and the new Wildebeest water coaster for up to two hours.
